About Us.

Our Mission

Since 1996, Boys & Girls Club of the Keys Area has helped put our islands’ youth on the path to great futures. By providing a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, and life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, they are inspired and instilled with the belief that they can become anything they choose.

Mission:

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Our Vision

Provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Our Commitment

We are committed to creating healthy children, in body and mind, with a sense of competence, usefulness, responsibility, belonging and influence through diverse programs and community involvement.

National History Highlights

  • In 1906, several Boys Clubs decided to affiliate. The Federated Boys Clubs in Boston was formed with 53 member organizations – this marked the start of a nationwide Movement and our national organization.
  • In 1931, the Boys Club Federation of America became Boys Clubs of America.
  • In 1956, Boys Clubs of America celebrated its 50th anniversary and received a U.S. Congressional Charter.

Boys & Girls Club of the Florida Keys began in 1995 as The Southernmost Boys & Girls Club in Key West, and branched out to include a club in Big Pine Key in 2004.  With more than 400 members and many more Florida Keys children who need a safe place to be, we look to the future with a  vision of establishing new locations in Key Largo and Marathon, and creating permanent facilities for our current ones.
